The difference between Nylon 6 and Nylon 66
The main variety of polyamide fiber is aliphatic polyamide fiber, which can be synthesized with a monomer, such as lactam or amino acid. At this point, the number after the nylon name indicates the number of carbon atoms used for lactam or amino acids, like nylon 6. In the two groups of numerals after the name of nylon, the first group represents the number of carbon atoms of diamine, and the second group represents the number of carbon atoms of diacid, like nylon 66.
Generally speaking, the hand feel of nylon 66 is better than nylon 6. Besides, the comfort of nylon 66 is better than nylon 6. But is different to distinguish these two items apparently.
Nylon 6 products have the characteristics of high strength, wear resistance, softness and gentle skin touch. It is widely used in the fields of clothing, silk, umbrella, fishnet, cord, BCF carpet and engineering plastics.
The degree of polymerization of nylon 6 is 140~200 and the degree of polymerization of nylon 66 is 55~77.
The mainly nylon yarn is filament, some staple fiber is used for blending with fur, cotton and other chemical fibers to improve the strength and wear resistance of the fabric. Nylon filament is partly used for silk, gauze, lace, etc., most is processing into DTY. The hosiery, nylon unlined upper garment and gloves made of it are sturdy and durable.
Industrial nylon uses accounted for more than 40%. Due to its high strength, fatigue resistance, strong impact resistance and good affinity with rubber, nylon is suitable for the production of truck, aircraft and other tire cord. Used as fishing nets, they last four to five times longer than cotton nets. In addition, it is also used for cable, parachute, ladder, conveyor belt and nylon rope.
