Types of polyester filament yarn

Polyester is one of the most important synthetic fibers and is the commodity name of polyester fiber in China.It is terephthalic acid (PTA) or terephthalic acid dimethyl ester (DMT) and ethylene glycol (MEG) as raw materials, through esterification or transesterification and condensation reaction of the preparation of fiber high polymer - polyethylene terephthalate (PET), made of fiber by spinning and post-processing.polyester filament, is the length of more than a kilometer of silk, filament winding into a group.According to different production modes, polyester filament is generally divided into three categories: raw filament, stretch filament and textured filament.


At the beginning of raw silk

Primary silk refers to the silk spun by direct melt without stretching, which is generally divided into UDY, MOY, POY and HOY according to the spinning speed.

1.Unstretched filament (UDY) : its fiber molecules are basically unoriented and uncrystallized, so this kind of silk has low strength, large elongation and poor dimensional stability, and generally cannot be directly applied.

2. Semi-oriented filament (MOY) : its fiber molecules have a small amount of orientation, and the orientation degree is higher than UDY and lower than pre-oriented filament. The structure state of this filament is still not stable enough to be directly applied.

3. Pre-oriented wire (POY) : the fiber itself has been moderately stretched, with a certain orientation and a small amount of micro grains, but it is still lower than the requirements of finished wire.This kind of silk has low strength and large extension, which is generally not suitable for processing fabric directly. However, composite silk can be produced with other fibers to meet the weaving needs, so that the fabric has a special style.

4. High-orientation yarn (HOY) : it is prepared by one-step ultra-high speed spinning, with high degree of orientation of fiber molecules and good dyeing performance of fiber, but large elongation and thermal shrinkage, which cannot meet the general requirements for use.

Drawn yarn

Stretch silk refers to the fiber obtained by moderately stretching the fiber in the process of spinning. According to the different extent of stretching, it can be divided into stretch silk (DY) and fully stretched silk (FDY).


1. Stretched silk (DY) : it refers to the silk made by low-speed stretching in the process of spinning. Its crystallinity is about 40%

2. fully drawn yarn (FDY) : it refers to the yarn produced by spinning and drawing one-step process. The quality of this kind of yarn is stable, with few hairs, broken ends and good dyeing uniformity.Its products have a wide range of USES and a large market capacity, which is one of the main raw materials for home textiles and clothing fabrics in China.

Textured yarn

Under the action of mechanical and thermal forces, the straight fibers are turned into curly fibers, called textured filaments, or textured fibers.It can be divided into conventional textured wire (TY), tensile textured wire (DTY) and air textured wire (ATY).


1. Conventional textured yarn (TY) : it is made by the three-step process of spinning winding -- stretching twist -- false twist deformation or by the process of high-speed spinning -- low speed false twist, which has certain elasticity and fluffy, and good dimensional stability.

2. stretch textured yarn (DTY) : generally, POY is used as raw material and low-elastic yarn is made by stretching and deforming one-step process. It has certain elasticity and feels less soft than TY, but its quality is stable and its strong elongation meets the requirements of taking.

3. Air textured yarn (ATY) : it refers to the cross winding processing of tow bundles by air jet technology to form irregular kinking coil, so that the tow bundles have fluffy loops of yarn.It is generally produced with FDY as the raw material, and some products can also be produced with POY as the raw material. The finished products are also used to produce home textile fabrics.

The new variety of polyester filament fiber includes differentiated fiber, functional fiber and simulated fiber.In recent years, with the development of silk imitation technology, polyester monofilament has been developing towards fine fiber, and can produce ultra-fine fiber with line density of 0.00011dtex.
