In order to reduce the displacement of drivers and passengers during vehicle collision and emergency braking, the ribbon needs to have high strength, good elongation, wear resistance, weather resistance and flame retardant, etc., in the whole life cycle of the car to continue to use without significant deterioration. Depending on the front or back position, the requirements for the extensibility of the ribbon are also different. Low elongation fiber is suitable for the front driver and the co-pilot used by the ribbon, strong constraint ability; High elongation fibers are suitable for rear seat occupant webbing, providing cushioning and proper absorption of energy. In addition, the ribbon should also have smooth surface, antibacterial, color and carriage matching, while the color fastness to light, wet friction and sweat resistance are also required.

The influence of fiber material on ribbon

The performance index and stability of fiber material seriously affect the safety and quality of ribbon. Generally choose high tensile strength, moderate elongation, not easy to deformation of fiber raw materials, such as high strength polyester filament and high strength polyamide filament. Nylon light resistance is poor, early use is more, now accounts for a small proportion. In general, the ribbon has a warp length of 320 1100dtex yarns or 260 1670dtex yarns, with a twill or satin weave structure. The warp yarn is parallel to the plane of the ribbon to improve the strength of the ribbon and make the surface of the ribbon smooth and soft. At the same time, it has been pointed out that compared with twisted silk, due to the high density of untwisted silk woven ribbon, the tensile strength and tear strength of the ribbon are improved, and the ribbon is more soft, smooth and flexible. The United States and Japan mostly use untwisted silk to weave ribbon, and Europe mostly use twisted silk weaving.

In recent years, research and development ideas such as seat belt system based on pressure sensor principle, airbag seat belt and negative Poisson's ratio effect ribbon have also appeared on the market. Sweden's AUTOLIV (AUTOLIV), the world's largest automotive safety supplier, has developed a seat belt equipped with an airbag, which combines the functions of a seat belt and an airbag, and has been assembled in the MERCEDES-BENZ S-Class sedan. Nissan has developed a smart seat belt that adjusts its binding on the occupant based on the severity of the crash. Seatbelts are becoming increasingly "smart" using sensors and active safety features.
